@awesomepaintjob I planing to just base coat on my tanks and dont really want to spend money on airbrush would a spray gun do ok job on it?thanx and great vid.
Good video…but…I was told by some good modelers that starting off with a single action is better as its not as expensive as a double action and if you don’t like it, then it wasn’t a big cost. That is what I did…single action Badger 350, then Paasche double action…both work great. Tamiya paints…never had a problem with water to dilute, but their thinner is the better choice.
Otherwise, good stuff for those interested in the hobby.
@Keyholder79 – look at the difference between a spray gun and an airbrush. You can get single action airbrushes for a good price. If you’re still not interested, then look at getting spray cans. Also, with an airbrush, a compressor works best…don’t use the air cans for them as when the air runs out you will get splatter and other crap. Look at Home Depot or other DIY stores for small air compressors…thats what I did.
@dougeagle thank u so much for the tip.
what airbrush do you use
thanks for the badger airbrush link ,,,now people will be able to find it….LOL
Where’s a good place to get the figurines?
I just got an airbrush and am exited to use it. But, I don’t know how to get the right paint consistancy. I know it’s supposed to be like milk but I’m not good at visualizing. Does anyone know a ratio like for every 1 drop of paint 4 drops of water or something? Any help would be greatly appriciated
@xboxgamer91 There’s no exact ratio. Every paint is different. Brands, color, age, where it was stored before it got to you, how well it was shaken up before you put it in the airbrush etc… Consistency of milk is the best way to go. Think of the way milk coats a glass. When mixing in the cup drag some paint up the side with a brush. It should be semitransparent.
can you just dilute water soluble paints with water? what is the advantage of using windex?
OW I use revell
@josuuasboardmanvideo Les currently uses a Badger Patriot, and another one which I can’t remember
Hi,Great Vid. What air pressure do you use for airbrushing? I’ve been using ~22lbs. for two very old single actions (paashe H-1 & F-1) that I own. Where did you find the small cleaning brushes for your airbrush?
I really appreciate all of the information you have to offer! I’m currently in the process of purchasing an airbrush myself, and would love any more information, such as compressor recommendations, etc. I don’t want to make the mistake of purchasing something, then wishing I bought something different later. Again, keep up the good work, rock solid.
Could you possibly clean the air brush by simply putting some of the thinner itself in th pot and spraying that out?
Great Stuff!!! Cheer’s!
Hey les, Why should i buy a badger airbrush over a cheap airbrush? What makes it worth the money?
Great work. Thank you for this.
can i use windex to thin my citadel paints and then use them for airbrushing?
@mantharas77 Yes. Just be sure to get them thin like milk.
@mantharas77 Yes. Just be sure to get them thin like milk.
@mantharas77 Yes. Just be sure to get them thin like milk.
Would you recommend the master series g23 cause i’ve heard that it’s a fairly cheap yet reliable model
Great video. Thank you for posting. I ended up buying a Renegade Series Velocity and I’m wondering if I made a mistake. For models like the Necron Monolith or other large tanks, do you think its detail painting will hurt its coverage on large surfaces?
Didn’t know you had a tatoo Les
On a side note, does anyone know where I can order a cheap compressor?
Preferably a UK distributor.
If you have any idea, please, please PM me. The £75 pricetag of the cheapest compressors I can find is the only thing putting me off of getting an airbrush – and I want one so bad!
